The attributes that are essential in southern cuisine are patience, love and hospitality. You can taste all of these elements in every bite of the food made at Aunt Viv's - a taste of the South in the North!.
We set ourselves apart from other southern style restaurants by offering good old fashioned comfort foods but with an interesting twist. We have limited the use of heavy frying oils and have substituted traditional pork dishes with chicken and turkey. We offer everything from southern favorites like chicken leg quarters, macaroni & cheese, candied yams and fresh collard greens along with lighter menu items such as grilled vegetables and steamed string beans.
One of our signature dishes is the Potato Explosion which is a meal all by itself! An over sized potato stuffed with your choice of meat topped with cheese and our signature barbecue sauce will surely make your taste buds leap for joy! When you visit us you can also try our Jumbo Fried Wings, Pulled Jerk Chicken and our famous Alabama Dirty Fries.

Aunt Viv's Homestyle Cooking was established by Sarah Bridges, naming the company after her mother Vivian, affectionately known as "Aunt Viv." She was a skilled cook and the corner stone of the family's social gatherings. Aunt Viv hosted friends and family every holiday and had a reputation for her unique style of cooking which she passed down her distinct recipes to her daughters. The memory of hosting family events and the loving way Sarah's mother prepared every dish was the driving force to honor her Mother's memory, so Aunt Viv's was born.
In 2010 Sarah met Robert Bridges and quickly discovered they shared a passion for cooking. They realized people want great food with good portions at a reasonable price but many are frustrated because they cannot find the authenticity and quality of the foods they desire. Robert being born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama was a perfect addition to Aunt Viv's. Being a son of chefs and raised in the South his cooking embodied the very spirit of southern homestyle cooking.
The husband and wife team perfected their cooking style and the pair has launched a food business to introduce their delicious food to the world!
